Mrs. Karyn Osgood Murray is a native Nevadan and has a BS from Univ. of Portland, OR. She received Northern Nevada Innovative Nurse of the Year in 1998. Mrs. Murray is married and has two grown children.
She taught Health & Family Education at Brookfield for many years before taking on full time administration. She has a passion to see all students have a broad education with a variety of enrichment opportunities. She believes Brookfield School is the best place for students to be challenged to their fullest potential. Mrs. Murray currently sits on the board of the National Independent Private School Association, an accrediting organization.

Mrs. Johnson was raised in Reno, graduate of Reno High School. After obtaining a degree in B.S. in Business Administration and Computer Science from the Univ. of Oregon, she worked in the high-tech field in the Bay Area. She returned to Reno and married, raised two boys and began working at Brookfield School in 1999. Mrs. Johnson feels Education is one of the most rewarding professions.

Mrs. Taylor Dorey was born and raised in Reno, Nevada. She attended Brookfield School from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Mrs. Dorey graduated from Boise State University with a B.A. in Elementary Education. During her time at Boise State, she received the ETS Recognition of Excellence Award for scoring in the top 15% of the nation in curriculum and content knowledge. She is an active member of Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society of education.

Mrs. Megan Jacobson has been teaching at Brookfield’s TLC since 2009. She is a Reno native who is currently pursuing her B.S. at UNR in Human Development and Family Studies with emphasis in Early Education. She also holds an Associate Degree in General Studies. Mrs. Jacobson believes that a strong foundation in learning at the pre-school level provides the youngest learners with the tools needed to grow and be successful and promising students. She enjoys making learning fun and seeing the wonderment in students eyes everyday. Mrs. Jacobson is married and has two dogs. When she is not teaching she enjoys cooking and traveling.
Ms. Janice Brumley moved to Reno, NV from Orlando, FL in 1989. She has been working at Brookfield School since 2000. She started out as the Secretary and Office Administrator at the Main Campus and now works in the Business Office at the Middle School. The students at the Middle School call Ms. Brumley their “Brookfield Mom”. In her spare time she enjoys going to the movies and traveling. Ms. Brumley is very passionate about cats and loves taking care of her 3.

Mrs. Karen Goecker has been working in the Main Campus office at Brookfield School since 2010. She has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of South Florida in Tampa, where she was born and raised. She and her family moved to Reno seven years ago from the busy city of Atlanta and they now enjoy being part of the close-knit Brookfield community.
Mrs. Goecker is married and has two Middle School children who have attended Brookfield since Pre-1st.

Miss Waller has been in early childhood education since 2011 and is currently working toward her degree in Early Childhood Development. She started her love of teaching at Brookfield School in 2014 and is looking forward to continuing the journey at TLC. She believes teachers and parents are the biggest advocates for children. In her free time, she loves spending time with family.

Mrs. Branson has her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. She has been teaching children since 1993. In the past, she has taught children with learning disabilities in the public elementary schools of Arizona and California. She also had an excellent teaching experience with three year olds in a private preschool for eight years. In this setting, special needs students were mainstreamed into her program. She feels fortunate to have had the opportunity to stay home with her own fabulous children for the first nine years/six years of their lives.
She is tremendously excited to be a part of Brookfield’s TLC and teaching team.
Mrs. Rose Ferrall has been a part of the Brookfield team since 1989. She chose Brookfield School because she believes in their philosophy and respect for each child. Prior to coming to Brookfield School, she worked as a teacher’s aide in the Bay Area.
As a Pre-K teacher, her goal is to make learning fun. She feels teachers need to be happy and animated. Children also need to feel comfortable and safe in their environment. Building self-esteem has always been a major part of her teaching practice. She also feels that as a teacher it is important to always model good behavior.
Mrs. Ferrall and her husband have two daughters and four grandchildren. Her interests are exercising, gardening, camping, vacationing to Canada and spending quality time with grandchildren, family and friends.

Mrs. Morgan Dusek was born and raised in Reno. She is a high school graduate of Bishop Manogue. She went to Arizona State University where she received her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. She enjoy doing anything outdoors and spending time with her family. She has been teaching at Brookfield since 2008. She is looking forward to an exciting new year filled with lots of learning and fun. Teaching is her passion and children light up her life. She anticipates a wonderful year.

Miss Morgan McKenzie has been a part of the Brookfield family since 2013. Initially starting out as an assistant, she is overjoyed to have the honor of teaching Junior Kindergarten this year. Ms. McKenzie, a Reno native, graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno (Go Pack!) with her degree in Integrated Elementary Education, specializing in Early Childhood Education. In addition to her bachelor’s degree, Ms. McKenzie holds Nevada State certifications in Elementary Education (K-8) as well as E.C.E. She is also working on completing her Master’s degree through Arizona State University, focusing on Curriculum and Instruction in Early Childhood Education.
Ms. McKenzie believes that fostering all areas of a child’s development is critical to the learning process. In order to do so, she ensures that visual and performing arts, dramatic play and academics are well balanced throughout her student’s daily schedule.
In her free time, Ms. McKenzie loves to spend time with her family, her boyfriend of 12 years and their golden retriever, Harlow. She also loves to adventure outdoors, go to the gym, explore on Pinterest, as well as decorate her house (and her classroom)!

Mrs. Valerie Whitt is a Reno Native and has been working at Brookfield School since 2009. She has a K-8 teaching license and will be completing her Masters in Education in 2016. She loves teaching Jr. Kindergarten and watching her children grow. Mrs. Whitt enjoys working with the caring and excellent staff at Brookfield School.

Mrs. Gookin received her degree from the University of Texas and has taught a number of grades from Pre-First through Junior High. She has been a County and School Science Fair Judge several times in addition to winning 1st place with Brookfield’s Pre-First class at the Regional Science Fair. She is also trained in our math program, Singapore Math. Mrs. Gookin first found her way to Brookfield’s program in 2004, and from then on, it has been her favorite place to teach. Consistent with her educational specialization, Mrs. Gookin’s first love has always been the Pre-First grade level and she is very excited to teach Pre-First at Brookfield. Mrs. Gookin moved to the Reno area in 1997 with her husband and two children, and continues to live in the south Reno area. In her spare time she enjoys fishing, cooking, board games, swimming, and dog agility training with her Australian Shepherd, “Vader”.

Mr. Aitchison was born and raised in Northern California. He graduated from California State University, Chico in 2011 with his Bachelors of Art degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Physical Education. Mr. Aitchison has had a lifelong love for sports and physical activity. He has experience as an elite player, coach, and referee. Mr. Aitchison strives to create the foundation for a physically active lifestyle in each child. Mr. Aitchison is currently working on his Nevada certification. He is very excited to have his own classroom teaching Jr. Kindergarten at TLC.

Mrs. Claudia Menesini has been teaching for over thirty some years. She has taught at Brookfield since 2007. She earned her Bachelors Degree in elementary education and a Master’s in Educational Leadership. Also, she has TESOL endorsement. She feels Brookfield School is a wonderful, exciting place to teach. Mrs. Menesini feels that everyone at Brookfield School shares the love of learning.

Mrs. Leila Post has been working with children since 1996 in WCSD. She has taught 1st through 4th grades and was an Instructional Coach of teachers for 3 years. Mrs. Post has been teaching at Brookfield School since 2014. She has a BA in English, and earned her Masters degree at USC in Early Childhood Education and Teacher Education. She moved from Southern California to Reno in 1991 with her husband and 2 sons and loves living here. She is very excited to be teaching at Brookfield School, which fosters an environment of support for the whole-child. She is thrilled to be part of a staff dedicated to lifelong learning.

Mrs. Vanelda Bratt has been teaching and working withyoung children since 1991. She has a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s in ECESE and Education. She has been teaching at Brookfield School since 2007. She lives in Truckee, CA and still has very close ties to Reno and the community. She is looking forward to another fun and exciting year.

Mrs. DeRosa is very excited to join the Brookfield family and support individualized instruction. Mrs. DeRosa taught Second and Third Grade at St. Teresa’s in Carson City for seven years. Her career with children started in the 1990’s when she worked in early childhood in Washoe County for 8 years. She then decided to try the business world and had the opportunity to open her own bridal shop in Reno, which she ran successfully for five years. However, she soon realized her passion was with children. She went back to college and completed her masters in education, and has enjoyed being in the classroom ever since!

Ms. Rebecca Parkin received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from San Diego State University. She holds a K-8 teaching credential from Chico State University and has been teaching since 2007. Ms. Parkin, her husband, and two daughters live in South Reno. Together, they enjoy running, listening to music, and participating in snow sports. Ms. Parkin’s passion for teaching is implemented through her whole-child approach to education. She is committed to the development of each child’s mind, body, and social development.

Ms. Hayes has an extensive background in the humanities. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Portland State University and is currently earning a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Sierra Nevada College with a TESL endorsement. In 2011, Ms. Hayes began her teaching career. She enjoys working with middle school students to cultivate their academic, civic, and individual identities as they transition from elementary school. Her passion for multiculturalism and discovery based learning across the curriculum drive her teaching practice. Outside the classroom, Ms. Hayes can be found traveling, practicing yoga, and painting. She is thrilled to be part of the inspiration and education of the “whole child” at Brookfield School.

Ms. Vicki Caviglia is a native Nevadan who has spent over thirty years working in the education field. Before coming to Brookfield School, she had he opportunity to spend eleven years as an Assistant Principal for the WCSD and 20 years in Reno and Ely, as a teacher and Literacy Coordinator. She has taught all grade levels from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Ms. Caviglia has extensive experience working in the areas of curriculum, instruction and staff development. She did her undergraduate work at UNR receiving a B.A. degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education. She later obtained her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from UNR. Outside of school, you can find her traveling and spending time with family and friends. She feels fortunate to have the opportunity to join a dynamic learning community that works collaboratively to strengthen the academic and social achievement of students and the relationship between home, school, and community.

Mr. Chris Zunino is a native Nevadan and graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno in Science education and Health education. He was the Health Services Coordinator for the local Head Start program prior to working as a Science and Technology teacher with the Washoe County School District for 20 years. As a teacher, Mr. Zunino helped develop and implement middle school S.T.E.M. Education for the last five years with the school district. His outside interests include running, road cycling, hiking, and just spending time outdoors with family and friends.
