FRIDAY ASSEMBILIES: The best way to stay current on school events and meet other parents (and other teachers!) is to attend our weekly assemblies. Pre-1st – 8th grade assemblies are in the Elementary School Great Room every Friday at 8:30 am beginning now. TLC assemblies are every Friday at 9:15 am in the TLC Great Room. Middle School students can be dropped off at Middle School prior to 8:15 am and then will be walked over to the assembly, or they can be brought directly to the Elementary Campus after 8:15 am.

Let's kick off the 2017-2018 school year with a Brookfield Parent Meet & Greet. Join PTA and parents for refreshments, appetizers, prizes, and a sampling of local grass-fed beef on Thursday, September 14th from 5:30-7:30 pm. Thank you to the Schuler Family for hosting the event at their home, located at 2215 Rhodes Road in South Reno. This is an adults-only event. If you need childcare, please contact Brookfield School by September 10th. Please RSVP for the event to Beth or Cathie at 775-722-8323 and let them know if you will be bringing a bottle of wine or appetizer to share. This is a parents-only event.

We want to thank our families for their understanding of the lack of a Hot Lunch program. We made several attempts to acquire a new provider over the summer and will continue looking at various options. At this time, we do not have a provider and have no definitive date for one. If you have any ideas or can help us with this program, please let us know!

It's never too early to start saving pictures for the yearbook! If you have any great school-related photos (ice cream social, first day of school, first assembly, etc.), please send them to Mrs. Goecker at kgoecker@brookfieldschool.com. Please note that any photo sent may be posted on the website, our social media pages, in the newsletter, and in the yearbook. We will not print names.

Elementary CAMPUS/MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS

BRICKS 4 Kidz: We are excited to have Bricks4Kidz back at Brookfield! Lego Club will be starting THIS Thursday! See below for more details on how to sign up.

PIZZA THURSDAYS: WHOOPS! We tried hard to get out of coming to school on November 30th, but we are actually going to have FOUR PIZZA THURSDAYS in November, despite there being only 3 on the pizza order forms. A separate form will be coming home to add 11/30/17 onto your existing order if you ordered for 3 November Thursdays. If you have not yet ordered pizza and would like to for all of November, please note that there are 4 Thursdays in that month. Pizza Thursdays will be offered every Thursday when school is in attendance. You may purchase one or two slices of pizza with a side. Please return the order form by 3:30 pm on the Wednesday before the Pizza Day, as we place the order that evening. Payments can be done via FACTS or by check. Please disregard the last line of the flier that indicates FACTS cannot be charged.

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT: Pre-first to Eighth Grade Parents, join us for Back to School Night on Thursday, September 21st from 6:00 – 7:00 pm. There will be two sessions for parents to attend.

Session 1: 6:00 pm – 6:30 pm
Session 2: 6:30pm – 7:00 pm
**All of Mrs. De Rosa's 3rd Grade Parents please attend Session 2. She will not be available for Session 1.

Come meet your student's teacher and learn about all the exciting things going on in their classroom this year! This is a parent-only event.

JOG-A-THON: Our 8th annual Elementary and Middle School PTA Jog-a-thon will be on Friday, September 22nd. If you haven't done so already, please turn in your student's waiver to their teacher. All students must have a signed waiver in order to participate in the Jog-a-thon.

SECURITY: For the security and safety of your children, all parents/guardians should have security gate key cards to obtain access to the school campus. Please note that these key cards will access the front and back gates from the 7:30 am – 8:30 am and 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Anyone visiting the campus during school hours must enter school through the front gate and sign in with front office personnel. If you do not have a key card, you may purchase one in the front office.

PARKING: To all of our new families, please note that there is additional parking in the rear of the school, courtesy of South Reno Baptist Church. There is an entrance gate by the basketball court that uses the same security card as the front gate; you must have a security card to access this gate as there is no call service to the office. This is a much easier entrance to those on the west side of school (Mrs. Bratt, Mrs. Menesini, Mrs. Post, Mrs. Parkin, and Mrs. DeRosa). As a reminder to everyone, please drive slowly and safely through our front parking lot as well as the church parking lot as our youngest students are still learning parking lot safety. The church has graciously allowed our use of their lot during school hours if we drive responsibly. Please note and follow the directional arrows in the back lot.

ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL AFTER CARE: After-care is available from school dismissal until 6:00pm. After-care is at an additional cost and is charged per family, not per student. If you plan to use after-care on a regular basis, you can save money by contacting the school and have the monthly after care bundle added to your bill. If your student is picked up prior to the end of their Homework Club, there is no charge for after-care. All students remaining after their Homework Club ends will be charged after-care starting from the dismissal of school.

MILK: You can still purchase daily milk for your child through the school. You may sign up for a date range or for the entire year (Monday-Thursday or Monday-Friday). Milk forms went home this week and are available in the front office. Milk is $0.50 a day.

ATHLETICS: Middle School Cross Country practice starts today after school. Practice will be on Mondays and Wednesdays. The meet scheduled for this Friday has been canceled. The first competition is on Friday, September 15th in Incline.

Join PTA! We would love to have you! Membership forms will be available at all offices and during uniform sales. Membership is $20 for the school year.

POPCORN FRIDAYS: PTA will be holding Popcorn Fridays every Friday at 1:15 pm in the back yard. Punch cards are available for sale, or students can bring cash.

BOX TOPS: We are happy to announce that PTA will be collecting Box Tops again this year! Box Tops are little vouchers located on many everyday household items that bring money to your school! Look for the bright pink Box Tops on brands such as Kleenex, Ziploc, General Mills, Annie's, and Pilsbury. Please clip out all non-expired Box Tops and place in a Ziploc bag with your child's teacher's name on it. You can turn them in to the office or to your teacher. We will be holding the collection beginning now and will collect through the end of 2017. The classroom with the most Box Tops collected will win fabulous prizes! Start clipping…and if you have the time, we would love to receive them in Ziploc bags of 50. Thank you to Mrs. Toland for volunteering to be the Box Tops Coordinator!

The reserved parking spots at the Elementary Campus and TLC are now available to the public, despite any signs you may see on them. They will be auctioned off again at the Fall Festival on Thursday, October 26th (save the date!). So fall in love with those premium spaces now, and be sure to bid in October!
