Some parents have inquired about the Mount Rose Youth Lessons that begin in January 2018 for children of ages 4-12. Mount Rose will be offering Friday afternoon youth lessons again this year, but they are limiting this day's availability to just 2 or 3 schools (including Brookfield). While this makes the parental process much easier and the lessons more enjoyable, the positions are limited to the first 60 students who sign up. In approximately two weeks, Mount Rose will provide us with a link to register for this class. We will pass this along as soon as we can and we urge all families to register upon receipt of the link. You must register online with this link through Mount Rose; Brookfield cannot take registrations.

As the cold weather approaches, students will be wearing more layers and accessories. Please label your child's sweaters, sweatshirts, jackets, coats, hats, gloves, and scarves. We prefer first and last name, but whatever identification you can fit on items will help you retain your clothing. We are now going through last year's Lost & Found and will be donating all unlabeled items to charity on Friday, October 6th. If you feel as though you may have items in this collection, please take a moment to go through it.

PARENT SURVEY: Your opinion matters! Please take a quick second to complete our survey about the school start times and calendar.

What We Are Learning

Fall is upon us here at TLC! We love learning about the many sights, sounds, smells, and tastes that the season has to offer! Students have and will continue to use apples, leaves, and pumpkins in various art, cooking, science, and sensory projects. Start looking for the fun and festive creations that your child has made that will be displayed all around their classroom!

- Please remember that we are a nut-free facility. No nuts or nut products such as milk (like almond milk) or yogurt (like nut milk yogurt) please. Thank you.
- Please remember to bring a water bottle labeled with your child's name to school every day.
- Please remember that all food must be pre-made/pre-cooked that is packed in your child's lunch. We are unable to cook or prepare food for them. Warm-ups are still okay.
- Please drive carefully and slowly in our parking lot.

EARLY RELEASE: The Elementary and Middle School campuses have Early Release on Friday, October 6th for teacher training. Please pick up students at 12:00 pm.

CHAUTAUQUA: Believe it or not, it is Chautauqua season! Friday, October 20th will be our All-School Chautauqua performance at assembly. Please save this date! See your teacher for classroom specifics.

PICTURE RE-TAKES: Fall Portrait Re-Takes / Make-Ups will be Wednesday, October 25th. If you are requesting re-takes, please let the front office know so we can pull your child out for pictures that day. Please be sure your child is in dress uniform.

CROSS COUNTRY: The Brookfield Bears Cross Country team will travel to Gardnerville this Friday for their meet. They will be completing a 2.5-mile course with 100 plus runners in their assigned race. Please, wish them luck! GO BEARS! Brookfield Basketball will begin practice this Thursday, October 5th in the Elementary Campus Great Room from 3:45-5:00. Both boys and girls are expected to be at practice. The following practice will be Friday, October 13th, after school from 1:30-3:00. If you have any questions, please email Mr. A at

ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL AFTER CARE: After-care is available from school dismissal until 6:00pm. After-care is at an additional cost and is charged per family, not per student. If you plan to use after-care on a regular basis, you can save money by contacting the school and have the monthly after care bundle added to your bill. If your student is picked up prior to the end of their Homework Club, there is no charge for after-care. All students remaining after their Homework Club ends will be signed into After-School Care and charged starting from the dismissal of school.

FRIDAYS AFTER-SCHOOL CARE: All students remaining on campus after 1:15 pm on Fridays will be signed into After-School Care, even if a parent or caregiver is present. To avoid any charges, please be off campus by 1:15 pm. Students who participate in a specific club will not be charged for after-school care while in the club. Thank you for your cooperation so we can staff our After-School personnel correctly.

PIZZA THURSDAYS: Pizza Thursdays will be offered every Thursday when school is in attendance. You may purchase one or two slices of pizza with a side. Please return the order form by 3:30 pm on the Wednesday before the Pizza Day, as we place the order that evening. Payments can be done via FACTS or by check. We still have several students who did not sign up for the additional Thursday on November 30th. We will be ordering our average number of pizzas that day, so if your child does not have lunch, we will supply him/her with his/her usual order and bill your account. If you have any issues with this, and would rather not toss your dough away for 11/30/17, please let us know!

LUNCHTIME WARM-UPS: While we are happy to warm up student lunches at lunchtime, we ask all parents to label your containers. This will not only enable lost containers to make their way back home to you, but will significantly expedite your child receiving his/her lunch!

Join PTA! We would love to have you! Membership forms will be available at all offices. Membership is $20 for the school year.

PTA MEETING: The next PTA meeting will be Wednesday, October 11th at 9:00 am in the Elementary School Great Room. We hope you can attend.

POPCORN FRIDAYS: PTA will be holding Popcorn Fridays every Friday at 1:15 pm in the back yard. Punch cards are available for sale, or students can bring cash.

BOX TOPS: We are happy to announce that PTA will be collecting Box Tops again this year! Box Tops are little vouchers located on many everyday household items that bring money to your school! Look for the bright pink Box Tops on brands such as Kleenex, Ziploc, General Mills, Annie's, and Pilsbury. Please clip out all non-expired Box Tops and place in a Ziploc bag with your child's teacher's name on it. You can turn them in to the office or to your teacher. We will be holding the collection beginning now and will collect through the end of 2017. The classroom with the most Box Tops collected will win fabulous prizes! Start clipping…and if you have the time, we would love to receive them in Ziploc bags of 50. Thank you to Mrs. Toland for volunteering to be the Box Tops Coordinator!
