We are very excited to announce that we will begin offering a very limited number of Community Scholarships to new families to build our Middle School population. These Community Scholarships will go to new students in the 5th – 8th grades who possess great character and academic leadership. We welcome our existing families to refer friends to be the first to apply for these scholarships. You will receive a referral fee if any of your friends enroll at Brookfield School. Please direct parents to our web site for more information on our Community Scholarships - http://brookfieldschool.com/community-scholarships.php .

We are thrilled to announce that everyone seems to be greatly enjoying our hot lunch program! Please remember that lunch orders for the week of May 23rd are due by 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 19th. Beginning next week, and for next school year, lunch orders will be due by 9:00 am on the Thursday prior to the week for which you are ordering Hot Lunch. We are working on building an online ordering system to simplify the process. We apologize, but we cannot make exceptions to the deadline, and the caterer will not credit for absences or field trips. Please also pack your child snacks and water as the hot lunch program only covers lunch items. Thank you for your cooperation, and we hope your child is enjoying the food!

MAIN CAMPUS/MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS

This Friday, May 20th is the Main Campus Career Day. We will not be holding a regular weekly assembly this morning. All Pre-1st through 8th grade students should be in the Main Campus Great Room at 8:40 am for the first presentation. As some of our presentations are outside, we ask that students wear sunscreen, and bring a sweatshirt or jacket and a water bottle.

We have scheduled the Spring Assessment to be administered in May. Students in Pre-First are being tested this week. Students in First through Eighth grade will be assessed during the week of May 23rd – May 26th. As a reminder, here are actions parents can take to ensure a positive assessment situation for your child:
  • Make sure your child attends school on all testing days, unless he/she is ill.
  • Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep the nights before testing.
  • Make sure your child eats a good breakfast on mornings of testing.
  • On days when your child will be testing, we ask that he/she arrive on time (preferably a few minutes early).
  • Please do not schedule any morning appointments on these days, and please do not pick up your child earlier than lunch.
  • Make an effort to help your child feel relaxed and unrushed by allowing plenty of time for daily routines.
  • Give your child words of encouragement to let him/her know you have confidence in his/her ability to do his/her best.
**If you have previously scheduled an appointment that cannot be changed, please notify your teacher as soon as possible.

If you send your child with food that needs to be heated, please label your containers as best as you can. We have dozens of children who require microwave heating and the containers can get mixed up and moved around while waiting for heating. You would be amazed at how many students forget what they had packed in their lunches!

Hold back the paparazzi! Get out your autograph book! Charge those camera batteries! The first grade superstars have saved the best for last as they present Small Little World on Friday, June 3rd at 12:00 pm. Mrs. Friedlander proudly presents the students from Mrs. Menesini's and Ms. Andersen's classes as they take to the Great Room stage for a musical tour de force! Please note that this play will be at 12:00 pm, and not during the morning assembly.

Calling all future chess masters! Brookfield School is hosting the 2016 Chess Kidz Individual and School Championship on June 4th and June 5th. This is a USCF-rated event in five sections from First grade through adult. Registration is done online at www.ChessKidz.org/ or email ChessKidz@ChessKidz.org for more information.

We are very proud to announce that Brookfield School has received the rights to the award-winning musical production of The Lion King. This will be the full school production, including the music, props, and scenery (which means there will also be plenty of art time with Ms. Reid!). We welcome all future superstars and artistic geniuses to the auditions. Campers will create and roar their way through the summer in this 4-week program. There will be two sessions offered over summer, weeks 1-4 and weeks 5-8. Each group will be putting on a full production during the last week of the 4-week program; students will need to be signed up for all four weeks of the session to participate.
