2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR RE-ENROLLMENT
Thank you for another great re-enrollment season! We are so happy to have so many of our Brookfield families returning to us. Many of our classrooms are now full and we are accepting students to be waitlisted for second or third classroom. If you missed the deadline and would still like to re-enroll, please contact Administration as soon as possible. We opened enrollment to the public as of March 1st.

HOT LUNCH PROGRAM
Due to some issues we have encountered with the Hot Lunch program, we are no longer accepting late orders through the office. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we want to ensure that all students have lunch and we have not been able to guarantee students with late orders receive what they ordered and paid for. Please ensure all orders are placed on the Farm Fresh website by Sunday night. You can place orders at https://www.farmfreshnv.com/order-now/ . Thank you for your understanding.

TOYS ON CAMPUS: Please note that students should not bring toys or trading cards to school, even to the after-school program. We have had several students lose or damage toys and trading cards over the last few weeks, so we need to reiterate our policy of keeping toys off campus. This includes the Pokemon trading cards. The school and staff cannot be responsible for items that may break or disappear.

Make sure you join us for each Elementary / Middle School Friday Assembly at 8:30 am to hear about all of the great events planned for our school. Wendy Greene will be there immediately following assembly to offer relaxing chair massages to help support the PTA (suggested donation of $10). Reserve your spot in the front office today…only one spot is open for this upcoming Friday!

BRICKS 4 KIDZ – OUR NEW LEGO CLUB IS FULL! For those of you who were lucky enough to sign up for Bricks4Kidz club, the club will continue to meet in the Art Room every Thursday until April 13th (the last Thursday before Spring Break). Well, another year of genius traps, and another year where the leprechaun outsmarted all of us. Great job to the students who worked hard to try to catch this little troublemaker, but it looks like we will have to wait one more year to catch him!

4th – 8th GRADE TRACK AND FIELD: Track & Field practice starts Monday, March 20th. Practices will be held every Monday and Wednesday from 3:45 – 5:00 pm. Track Meets will be held in Carson City and South Tahoe. We are looking for a parent volunteer to help run our Track & Field program. Please email Mr. Aitchison at caitchison@brookfieldschool.com if you are interested!

ORCHESTRA! 3rd – 6th Grade Parents: Our Violin Instructor Ms. Bauer is starting an Orchestra Class next school year. Every student can now choose between Orchestra and Music Appreciation class. Both classes will be taught during the school day, at least two days a week. Orchestra Class will include at least one performance per semester. Selection forms went home earlier this month and Ms. Bauer will be at our Middle School Open House on March 23rd from 3:30 – 4:00 pm to discuss orchestra and answer any questions you may have. You can contact her at jenna@renoviolin.com.

MARCH INVENTION MONTH: All Brookfield Elementary and Middle School students will be participating in an exciting event. All families are invited to join us for our "Art and Science Night" on April 27th at 4:00 pm. Students will be displaying their inventions or science experiments and reports. Brookfield's Annual Expo combines many skills your child learns at Brookfield. And new this year we will combine and display both your student's art and invention.

Look for information coming home from your student which will explain the step-by-step guide to creating his or her own inventions or science experiment. Please go over this information with your child to make sure you, your child, and your child's teacher are on the same agenda regarding timelines, expectations, and deadlines for his/her project. If you have any questions, we recommend you ask your student's teacher for clarification as early as possible.

Each student will submit a three-sided display board except Pre1st and 4th Grade. Pre-1st will present on one board and 4th Grade projects are provided by the school on life-size sheets of paper. We will have a limited supply of science boards for sale in the office for your convenience of $5.00 each. These boards can be purchased at Target, Wal-Mart, and Michael's.

PTA NEWS

We have an EXCITING contest starting! All students from Pre-1st to 7th Grade are invited to enter a design contest for the 2017 Jog-A-Thon T-shirt! Please submit an 8 1/2 x 11 sized paper drawing showing your school spirit! Please keep the lines thick and clean so the design can be easily screen printed, and keep the theme Brookfield-related (preferably Jog-A-Thon related!). Please make sure students sign their names on the back of the paper to keep our vote anonymous. The winner will be recognized at the start of next school year and will have his/her design forever memorialized on the Jog-A-Thon shirt! Mr. Sherven has already placed his entry in the contest, so we hope your drawing can beat his (it can).
