CHANGE TO SNOW DAY POLICY AS OF FEB. 1, 2017: Brookfield School will no longer automatically be closed when Washoe County School District is closed for snow. We may implement a 2 hour academic delay and care will begin at 7:30 am, if at all possible. If there is a 2 hour academic delay on a Friday we will hold a full day of school at the Elementary and Middle School Campus. Enter the school property during snowy days at your own risk as driveways and walkways may not be cleared and very slippery. OPEN HOUSE SUCCESS: Thanks to all who attended any of the open houses, held at each campus. Please call if you have any questions on RE-ENROLLMENT and / or need to schedule a private tour/meet with administration. We have highlighted changes for the 2017-18 year below.
  • We will be starting our school year one week earlier. School starts August 28, 2017.
  • Tuition plans will incur a cost ($45 to $150) unless paid annual or semi-annual.
  • All Re-enrollment discounts expire on February 17, 2017.
  • Deposits and Re-Enrollment fees can be charged to your FACTS account.
Re-enrollment for the 2017-2018 school year is now open for current students and siblings. The "Intent to Enroll" form is due by Friday, February 17th at 3:30pm. Ski Program: Another 5-week session of Mount Rose Youth Lessons will start in March; you can sign up at http://skirose.com/kidzrose-local-youth-programs/ now. Please go to the above link for the Mar/Apr session and sign up for Friday afternoons at 2:00pm. Space is limited, sign up now. While we try our best to organize a ride-share program for elementary and middle school students, we cannot guarantee transportation to and from the mountain. There is no ride-share for TLC students. If you are able to transport other students to and/or from the mountain, or if you are hoping to have your child ride with someone else, please contact the front office at 775-825-0257, ext. 2. We will announce at school as soon as we are notified by Mt. Rose that the program is cancelled. A note from Mount Rose: Make-up classes* are now available for the previously cancelled sessions. Bring your child up for any regularly scheduled Rosebud lesson. FEBRUARY BREAK CAMP - February 20th – 24th: No School – Vacation Camp Available Tuesday – Friday by RSVP at TLC. All schools will be closed the week of February 20th. We will be holding February Vacation Camp that week from Tuesday, February 21st through Friday, February 24th. There will be no camp on Monday, February 20th in observance of Presidents' Day. Camp will be available from 7:45 am – 5:30 pm. Please sign up in the front office, or return the camp form that went home (the form is also available on our website home page under Current News, http://www.brookfieldschool.com/february-ski-week-camp-sign-up/). Field trips planned for older students include: Discovery Museum, Cooking at TLC, Need to Speed- Gocart racing and blacklight mini-golf, GSR Bowling and Tumble-town, Fly High, and a hike at Bartley Ranch.

Please note for your spring vacation scheduling, our Spring Break week is April 17th – April 21st. We will offer Vacation Camp with BRICKS – 4- KIDS legos during spring break.

What Is Happening at TLC?

We are enjoying learning all about winter, what perfect timing with all the snow and crazy weather we have been having! As we continue to learn about winter we have also started our friendship and kindness unit.

100th Day of School Museum: On display now! Come by and visit our 100 day projects in the TLC greatroom.

JR. CHOIR: Dr. Flora and the new Jr. Bear-i-tones are in full swing, and will meet on the following Fridays from 3:00 – 3:30 pm: February 10th, March 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st, April 14th, 28th, May 5th, 12th. The cost is $240 per student, checks made out to Brookfield School. Dr. Flora encourages all TLC students to join today!

JR. DANCE CLUB! We have been having so much fun in Music & Movement once a week during the school day that Ms.Baran is starting a dance club as The Little Campus. Enjoy an up beat creative movement and music club on Mondays from 3:45 - 4:15pm. Who: All TLC students (teddy bears bring a grown up friend) Dress: Comfy clothes Tuition: $30/month $120/entire session Where: TLC Great room When: Mondays, beginning February 13th ending June 12th (*no class when school is closed 2/20,4/17,5/29) Payments can be made via check or cash to Lilith Baran at the beginning of each month. Elementary CAMPUS/MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS

Mrs. Friedlander is proud to present two limited engagement performances of the blockbuster Cinderella: A Modern Makeover! Mrs. De Rosa's 3rd Grade class will present on Thursday, February 9th at 2:00 pm. Mrs. Bratt's 3rd Grade class will present on Thursday, February 16th at 2:00 pm. We hope to see you there to support our thespians!

Choir: The new semester for the Brookfield Bear-i-tones has started. Dr. Flora and the Bear-i-tones will then meet on the following Fridays from 1:15 – 2:15 pm: February 10th, March 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st, April 14th, 28th, May 5th, 12th. There will also be a Spring Show (date and time TBA). Choir will meet in the Elementary School Great Room, and the cost is $260 per student, checks made out to Brookfield School. Dr. Flora encourages new students from Pre-1st through 8th grade to join today!

MT. ROSE SKI PROGRAM and Middle School Ski/Board Club: Parent participation is needed with carpool, skiing, and lodge support. 4th – 8th grade students interested in skiing/boarding together on Friday afternoons as a group are invited to join Mrs. Johnson for Ski Club. All other MT. ROSE participants JK – 8th Grade will be released from class when you come into the office. Please be early the first week and be prepared for winter driving. We try our best to organize a ride-share program for elementary and middle school students, we cannot guarantee transportation to and from the mountain. BRICKS FOR KIDS: a NEW LEGO CLUB: We will be starting up a new Lego Club when we return from February Vacation Break. Lego Club will begin Thursday, March 2nd and run every Thursday for seven weeks until April 13th (the last Thursday before Spring Break). Bricks for Kids will be part of the Spring Break Camp. PTA NEWS

PTA will be offering Valentine-grams! There are three options at $1 each: helium balloon, mini flower bouquet, or Valentines Smencils. Order forms went home this week. To help you with your Valentine's Day classroom offerings, please note that we will gladly delivery Valentine-grams to the entire class from your child. Please stop by the front office to get a class count or for help with your form! Valentine-grams will be delivered after lunch on Tuesday, February 14th. All orders are due by THIS FRIDAY, February 10th.

We want to thank the PTA for the beautiful Daddy-Daughter Dance they sponsored last Friday, February 3rd. We want to send a special heart-felt THANK YOU to Poyeh Golshani for all of her hard work! Please get all your pictures into the school for yearbook.
