We would like to invite all of our parents to our upcoming spring events. Every Tuesday during the month of April starting at 8:00 am, join Administration for coffee during our Tuesday Talks in our office at Main Campus. This is a time to meet, catch up, and fill us in on your year so far and what you are looking for in next year. Then, on Thursday, April 14th, we are hosting a Parent Mixer at our Middle School location from 5:00-6:30 pm. Join your friends and make some new ones over a drink and appetizers. The event will be catered by Roundabout Catering, who will begin serving as our Hot Lunch vendor on April 18th. Come for a taste of their great food! Do you love riding, running, or hiking Peavine's trails? Then come on down to a Poedunks / Biggest Little Trail Stewardship Spring Party as they continue their efforts to build more exciting trails! Join us for the Trails and Ales Spring Party on Friday, April 8th at 7:00 pm in the Brookfield School Main Campus Great Room. There will be mountain bike films, raffle and auction items, and beer and wine for sale. Admission is $10 at the door (under 18 free). For more information, call Curtis Johnson at 775-232-8483.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to the Main Campus from April 15th – April 22nd! Browse for books for all reading levels including adults. Hours, information, and your child's wish list will be coming home soon! Beginning Monday, April 18th, we will be using a new Hot Lunch vendor, Roundabout Catering. We are very excited about the new food and invite parents to our Parent Mixer on April 14th to sample their food! Join us at the Middle School campus.

All families are invited to the Brookfield Art Show, hosted by our lovely art teacher, Ms. Reid on Thursday, April 28th. She will have students' works on display at the Middle School from 5:00-7:00 pm. More information will come home soon!

Important Dates and Times:
Wednesday, April 27th and Thursday, April 28th: Optional TLC Spring Portraits (more information will be coming home soon)

TLC Announcements
Please don't forget that we are a Nut Free campus. Please do not pack any products containing nuts in your child's lunches. Thank you!

Here at TLC we learn about and encourage Grow Food on a daily basis! Our students love to learn about making healthy choices for their bodies and talk about great grow foods in their class. Please help us continue the learning at home and encourage your little ones to pick out fresh and healthy fruits and vegetables for their lunches! Check out some of our great Grow Food charts in classrooms as well! Thank you for your support with this!

As a reminder for those who have signed up, the optional, free-dress and sibling Spring Portraits and Eighth Grade Cap & Gown Portraits are TOMORROW, Thursday, April 7th. You should have received your child's picture appointment time and free dress pass in his/her folder this week. Please call the office at 775-825-0257, ext. 2 if you did not, or if you have a timing conflict.

Mr. Weinert will be holding Hands-On-Science classes for students in 1st through 4th grades THIS Friday, April 8th in the Great Room. Parents are welcome to come and help out! If you have any 2-Liter "straight style" soda bottles, we would love to have them as some of our students made mistakes while cutting their first bottles!

For security purposes, we have recently run an update to our security gate key cards. Beginning next week, a small number of card holders may be unable to open the front and back gates in the morning. If you have any difficulties with your card, please alert the front office as soon as possible and we will correct the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding as we keep the campus and our children safe and secure.

We are very proud to announce that Brookfield School has received the rights to the award-winning musical production of The Lion King. This will be the full school production, including the music, props, and scenery (which means there will also be plenty of art time with Ms. Reid!). We welcome all future superstars and artistic geniuses to the auditions. More information will come, but this is a full summer course from Week 1 to Week 8 of Summer Camp, with a Middle School production for 4th – 8th grades, and a lower elementary production for Pre-1st – 3rd grade.

We know how difficult it may be to get your child to leave the backyard at dismissal time once the weather gets warm. However, in an effort to assist our After-School Care personnel, we ask that all students leave the after-care area once their parents arrive. This will help us reduce the number of students in our line of sight. Any student remaining in the after-school care area will be in charged care, even if a parent is present (Pre-1st and 1st grade students who have siblings in 2nd – 8th grades are exempt from this policy until 3:30 pm). Thank you for your cooperation.

The next PTA meeting will take place on Thursday, April 7th at 2:30 pm at the Main Campus. We hope you can join us.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to the Main Campus from April 15th – April 22nd. Helping with the Scholastic Book Fair is an easy and fun way to volunteer. If you have a free hour or two this week and would like to help students shop for new books, the following link will give you information on the available time slots:

We will be celebrating EARTH DAY on April 22nd at Main Campus and on April 29th at TLC.

We are looking for volunteers to run the Barista table at Main Campus on Friday mornings from April 22nd through June 10th. The sign-up slots are on a weekly basis. Please use the following sign up link if you are able to help keep the table running past April 15th.

The Teacher Appreciation event will take place during the second week of May. Details will follow. Please contact the PTA if you would like to help with the event.

PTA BOARD 2016/2017
We are looking for individuals who would like to volunteer for the PTA Board for the 2016/2017 school year. Contact the PTA if you are interested in serving on the committee next year.

We want to remind our PTA members that requests for enrichment funding for particular enrichment activities, whether by grade, class or school/campus wide, are not limited to coming from teachers. The Enrichment Committee, which reviews these requests, will consider enrichment activity requests that also come from parents, along with teachers. If you have an idea or would like to possibly coordinate a learning activity around your area of expertise, please inquire with Mindy Cannady, our Enrichment Chair.

We hope our Spring Break Campers enjoyed the lovely spring weather during camp!
