Spring Break week is April 17th – April 21st. We will offer Vacation Camp with BRICKS-4-KIDS Legos for elementary age students during spring break. NOW FOR JK TOO! Lego class will be part of the morning camp from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. The camp will feature a MINECRAFT theme! Space is limited, sign up today!

Our next Open House is the Art and Science Night on Thursday, April 27th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. Parents, grandparents, and friends are invited to see each student's art, invention projects, and science experiments across both elementary and middle school campuses. Art projects from Preschool to 8th Grade students will be on display at the Middle School. Inventions and science projects will be at the Elementary Campus. The PTA has booked a DJ and Fire on the Mountain Pizza Truck for the evening starting at 4:30 pm, so join us for great food and dancing at the Elementary School! We are also hoping to open the Scholastic Book Fair first sales. We hope the entire family can join us.

If you enrolled in the Nevada ESA Program, you will need to verify that your application is up-to-date with the Nevada Treasury. EARTH DAY PLANTING: The Annual PTA Earth Day Plantings are scheduled for Friday, April 28th for all three campuses. Bring a flower or two for your child to plant. Specific times will come home soon, we hope you or a family member can come join your child for the planting fun. Elementary and Middle School families are welcome to bring your plants with you when you attend the Art & Science Night the evening before on Thursday, April 27th (please label the pot with your child's name). You can also send the plant in on that Friday.

CALLING ALL PARENTS! PTA NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT! We are looking forward to the annual PTA Teacher Appreciation Dinner on Thursday, May 11th. If you would like to contribute to this event, we are accepting monetary donations from now until Spring Break (April 17th). Donate what you can - $10, $25, $50, anything is greatly appreciated. There are envelopes in each classroom or you can drop off a sealed envelope in the front office. Thank you for your support!

Sierra Nevada Community Sailing presents a Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament on Saturday, May 6th at the Grand Sierra Resort! Doors open at 6:00 pm and games begin at 7:00 pm. Come help spread the exciting sport of sailing to Nevadans of all ages while enjoying a rousing hand of poker, complimentary cocktails for the first two hours, and comradery! Your purchase of a ticket will benefit Sierra Nevada Community Sailing, a volunteer-based, non-profit 501(c)3 education charity teaching sailing skills to youth and adults. We started the day with Nevada Supreme Court Justice, the Honorable Lidia Stiglich, who presented to the student body. Thank you to Dermatologic Surgeon Dr. Whitney Hovenic, Real Estate Agent Mindy Hertz, ENT Surgeon Dr. Jenny Van Duyne, Physical Therapist Dr. Lynn Kotlicky, CEO Ben Parker, Chef George Obritsch, Psychiatrist Dr. Charles Nielsen, Appeals Officer and Attorney Raji Nielsen, Lani Estill, CFO of Estill Ranches who brought in her sheep wool and yarn, Officer dads Brandon Carney and Eric Hague and their police officer friends from the Reno Police Department, and the Reno Fire Department and REMSA.

TERM 3 REPORT CARDS: Term 3 Report Cards and Honor Roll went home today for the Elementary Campus and last Friday for the Middle School Campus. Congratulations to all of our students for a successful term!

SKI CLUB CANCELLED: This week's Middle School Ski Club with Mr. Aitchison has been cancelled (Friday, April 14th). Please stay posted with Mt. Rose on the youth lessons and weather.

FRIDAY BARISTAS: The Middle School Student Baristas are looking for one or two volunteers to help keep serving coffee and morning treats each Friday at the Elementary Campus during assembly. If you can spare your time, please contact the office.

CIMI TRIP: Several of our Middle School students are attending a week of outdoor education at the Catalina Island Marine Institute. We hope they are having fun at CIMI and enjoying this incredible experience. To see what they are learning, visit .

MILK: Beginning Monday, April 24th, all milk orders for Elementary and Middle School will go through the school and not the Hot Lunch provider. Individual cartons of milk will be $0.50 a day and must be pre-ordered by the Wednesday PRIOR to the week you would like to start receiving milk. We will be ordering enough milk for the week of April 24th for anyone interested in receiving milk, so you can order for the first week up until Monday, April 24th. Order forms went home today, or you can call the front office to order.

4th – 8th GRADE TRACK AND FIELD: Track & Field practices have started. Practices will be held every Monday and Wednesday from 3:45 – 5:00 pm. Track Meets will be held in Carson City and South Tahoe. We are looking for a parent volunteer to help run our Track & Field program. Please email Mr. Aitchison at if you are interested!

KOLO8 News will be at the Elementary Campus filming the students during the Pledge of Allegiance on Monday, April 24th. Please have all students wear the Wednesday Dress Uniform on this day (please note, this is the first day back from Spring Break). If you did not want your child to participate and did not sign the release waiver, he/she will not be filmed. Due to this reschedule of dates, you now have until the end of this week to return your signed waivers.

BRICKS 4 KIDZ ! Tomorrow is the last day of this session of Bricks4Kidz Lego Club. A new session begins on Thursday, April 27th (the week we return from Spring Break). You can sign up online now – space is limited! Use the link below or go to their homepage of and follow the prompts (make sure you are signing up for the second session at Brookfield School). Fliers will go home this week.

INVENTION CONVENTION – GET YOUR SCIENCE BOARD NOW!: Each student will submit a three-sided display board except Pre1st and 4th Grade. Pre-1st will present on one board and 4th Grade projects are provided by the school on life-size sheets of paper. We will have a limited supply of science boards for sale in the office for your convenience of $5.00 each. These boards can be purchased at Target, Wal-Mart, and Michael's.

All Brookfield Elementary and Middle School students will be participating in an exciting event. All families are invited to join us for our "Art and Science Night" on April 27th at 4:00 pm. Students will be displaying their inventions or science experiments and reports. Brookfield's Annual Expo combines many skills your child learns at Brookfield. New this year, we will combine and display both your student's art and invention.

Look for information coming home from your student which will explain the step-by-step guide to creating his or her own inventions or science experiment. Please go over this information with your child to make sure you, your child, and your child's teacher are on the same agenda regarding timelines, expectations, and deadlines for his/her project. If you have any questions, we recommend you ask your student's teacher for clarification as early as possible.

We have an EXCITING contest starting! All students from Pre-1st to 7th Grade are invited to enter a design contest for the 2017 Jog-A-Thon T-shirt! Please submit an 8 1/2 x 11 sized paper drawing showing your school spirit! Please keep the lines thick and clean so the design can be easily screen printed, and keep the theme Brookfield-related (preferably Jog-A-Thon related!). Please make sure students sign their names on the back of the paper to keep our vote anonymous. The winner will be recognized at the start of next school year and will have his/her design forever memorialized on the Jog-A-Thon shirt! Mr. Sherven has already placed his entry in the contest, so we hope your drawing can beat his (it can).
